Camp Ahwaga Crowdrise Fundraiser
THE STORY:
“Camp Ahwaga is my daughter’s weapon against falling further behind her typical classmates each summer.” “My son is the square peg trying to be forced into the round hole at school, so to have a place that excites him about learning and accepts him for who he is, what a blessing.” –These are comments from parents of Camp Ahwaga campers.
We are a non-profit summer educational and recreational day program designed for children with disabilities of Tioga County, New York. For nearly 30 years, we have transformed kids with disabilities into campers whose disabilities take a back seat to exploration and learning through play. The camp is entirely free, which is priceless for families often facing financial burdens from their child’s health issues.
Unfortunately, our typical donations have fallen short just as necessary costs (minimum wage, etc.) have increased. We need your help to ensure that the campers of the future will have the same great experiences as the campers who went before them. Please consider making a donation. No amount is too small and every amount makes a difference.

This Friday, April 29th is Tioga County Caps for Camp Day! We need your help in spreading the word. Please let everyone you know to wear their favorite or most outrageous hat this Friday. In addition to wearing their hat to spread awareness of our program, we are asking that they send a $1.00 donation to Camp Ahwaga. The hope is that schools and businesses join the fun and ask students and employees to join in. I know many of the Tioga County schools have already agreed to join the fun. Please send the attachment to everyone you know and post and repost onto social media all week long! On Friday, Tweet your pictures with along with #campahwaga
In addition to Caps for Camp, Kathy Hansen is also putting on a dance recital on Sunday, May 1 at OAMS from 1:30 to 5:00. The details for the event are attached as well.
