Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, Camp Ahwaga will be closing its doors for the summer of 2020. It is with great sadness that we make this decision, but we feel it is the only way to ensure the health and safety of our Camp Ahwaga families. We understand the inconvenience of the situation and vow to return next summer with renewed energy and excitement!

Jackson’s Pumpkin Farm is once again going to collect donations for Camp Ahwaga throughout the month.  Please go and support Camp Ahwaga and Jackson’s at the same time.

Our talent show is Thursday August 9th at 10:15 in the OAMS auditorium.

Camp Ahwaga Open House is Friday 7/13 from 9:30 to 11:30

Reminder: Camp Ahwaga starts at 9:00 am on Monday July 2nd.   We can’t wait to see everyone there!

On Wednesday April 11, KHSOD booster club will be doing a TV interview on Around the Tier w/Kara Conrad. It will air between 11:30 and 12:00.

Also, on Thursday April 12 at 8:10 am they will be on WEBO for an interview.

Summer 2018 Dates

Camp will begin for the campers on Monday, July 2 and will run until Thursday, August 9. There will be no Camp on July 4th. Our annual talent show will be Thursday, August 9th.

Upcoming Fundraisers

Friday, March 9 from 11:00 to 6:00 – Doug’s Fish Fry will be at the UHS parking lot (between Kwik Fill and Visions) on Route 434 in Apalachin. Part of the proceeds will benefit Camp!

Sunday, April 15 – Kathy Hansen Fundraiser at OAMS. There will be great dancing to watch, awesome baskets raffled off and more! We will also need some assistance with concessions and ticket taking. Please contact Amy if you can help. More information on this great event will be coming soon.

Kathy Hansen School of Dance teams will participate in the third annual fundraiser for Camp Ahwaga on Sunday, April 9.  The show is scheduled from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Owego Apalachin Middle School. A donation of $5 per person with a maximum of $20 per family is being asked.  Proceeds will benefit Camp Ahwaga, a summer camp for Tioga County children with disabilities.

THE STORY:
“Camp Ahwaga is my daughter’s weapon against falling further behind her typical classmates each summer.” “My son is the square peg trying to be forced into the round hole at school, so to have a place that excites him about learning and accepts him for who he is, what a blessing.” –These are comments from parents of Camp Ahwaga campers.
We are a non-profit summer educational and recreational day program designed for children with disabilities of Tioga County, New York. For nearly 30 years, we have transformed kids with disabilities into campers whose disabilities take a back seat to exploration and learning through play. The camp is entirely free, which is priceless for families often facing financial burdens from their child’s health issues.
Unfortunately, our typical donations have fallen short just as necessary costs (minimum wage, etc.) have increased. We need your help to ensure that the campers of the future will have the same great experiences as the campers who went before them. Please consider making a donation. No amount is too small and every amount makes a difference.

On 2/22 there is a fundraising meeting at the countryside community center at 5:00. Board meeting at OAMS Room 112 at 6:15.
